5 Ways to Save Money on Your Flowers Without Compromising Your Vision
I love flowers, especially all the beautiful arrangements and bouquets for weddings. Flowers can be expensive, but I will give you 5 tips on how to stretch your floral budget without compromising your vision.
Use seasonal flowers
Seasonal flowers help reduce your overall floral cost because the florist will not have to special ordered them. The seasonal flowers will be in bloom, so local farmers/suppliers will be able to supply the florists with the flowers with no additional fees. Any request for flowers not in season, the florist will have to special order them and it will cost a lot more.
Do a mix of tall & short centerpieces
Having a variety of arrangement sizes will reduce your cost as well. Instead of having all large arrangements for the reception tables, add in a few smaller arrangements and other décor to add variety. It also looks really good for pictures having a mixture of arrangements. Also, be mindful of how big your arrangements are on guest tables. You don’t want them too big that your guests can’t talk to their neighbor across the table. If you want a few larger arrangements for the tables, I would suggest you have them on a stand elevated in the air to allow for guests to see and talk to one another.
Replace boutonnieres with stylish pocket squares instead
Boutonnieres are great, but after the ceremony and formal pictures, a lot of the groomsmen will end up taking the boutonniere off, or taking their jacket off for the reception. If you would still like the groom to wear a boutonniere, you can just get one boutonniere for the groom, and have the pocket squares for the groomsmen.
Consider lanterns or candles for some tables
Instead of having flowers on every guest table, incorporate lanterns and/or candles. Both options are great. They are very romantic, elegant, add extra light, and are more budget friendly.
Repurpose flowers from ceremony and bridesmaid’s bouquets for reception arrangements.
Instead of your ceremony flowers being left at the ceremony location until the end of the wedding, have your wedding planner or someone you assign move them to the reception area. It will reduce the amount of arrangements you need. Also, have a vase for your bridesmaids to put their bouquet in at the reception. The bridesmaids bouquets will make beautiful arrangements for your guest tables. Added benefit - your bridesmaids won’t need their bouquets during the reception anyways, so having their bouquet as reception décor it will avoid having the beautiful bouquets ending up on the ground.
